Re: Nights at the Alhambra - once in a lifetime experience
Mon, October 2, 2006 - 10:52 PMHello Sage,
The first time I read the mail from Quinlan Road announcing Loreena's performances at the Alhambra in Granada (Spain), I couldn't believe my luck. The week in which the concerts were scheduled, I would actually be on vacation in the neighbourhood. I didn't hesitated once and started organizing my trip to see my favorite artist Loreena McKennitt at the Alhambra.
I don't regret this at all, for the concert was just fabulous and I assure you that you will enjoy the show once it is broadcasted on PBS Great Perfomances. I hardly find the words to describe the moment, but it left me some very good memories. It was just wonderful me being there with my friend and I felt privilige attending her concert with some other 400 persons. It was a perfect setting for perfect music in an ancient place. She swept us with her music on a extraordinary journey into a beautiful night. She couldn't have picked a better place to introduce her new album.
Unfortunately enough we were forbidden to take any pictures during the concert, as it was one of the two perfomances which were recorded for broadcasting on PBS Great Performances. But gladly enough I was able to take a picture of me and her after the show.
Sadly enough I live in France and I'm not able to receive PBS on TV over here. I only hope they will bring out a DVD of her perfomances at the Palace of Charles V for it was a really marvelous concert. And I hope there will be new concerts organized, but we'll find out in due time.
Yours sincerely

Wed, October 4, 2006 - 7:48 AMHello Polly,
I hope I didn't set your hopes too high up about the Performances and its' broadcasting, but I'm almost certain you will be satisfied with her performances. You just need to have a lot of patient for the moment.
Kind regards

Re: Nights at the Alhambra - once in a lifetime experience
Tue, October 3, 2006 - 4:35 PMJoris ~
I am so thrilled for you that you were able to attend the performance in Spain. I'm sure you had the most magnificent of evenings. Thank you so much for sharing your experience without giving away too many of the details. I can't wait to see the performance when it is shown on PBS. Most of the Great Performances shows are usually available after broadcast on the PBS website. Hopefully, it will be the case with this performance so that you, as well as the rest of us, can get a copy of it, and you will have a permanent reminder of your evening with Loreena. How wonderful, too, that you were able to get a photo of yourself with Ms. McKennitt! That is certainly something to treasure.
Warm Regards,
Sage ~ -

Re: Nights at the Alhambra - once in a lifetime experience
Wed, October 4, 2006 - 7:34 AMHello Sage,
If I have could describe the evening, I propably would have done it. But words are not enough. Too much details and emotions to even try to describe the event. I'm certain you'll agree with me, once you have seen the show on TV.
Concerning the photo of Ms. McKennitt and myself, I'll try to put it on my profile as soon as possible.
Hope to read you soon.
Many hugs
Joris

Re: Nights at the Alhambra - once in a lifetime experience
Tue, October 3, 2006 - 8:25 PMJoris,
I am green with jealousy and envy!
Two things on my my very long to do list are: Go to Spain and see Loreeena McKennitt live.
You got to do both of those at the same time. You lucky dog! :0) -

Wed, October 4, 2006 - 7:57 AMHey Julie
I'm sorry I provoked you some bad emotions. It wasn't really my intention. But I consider myself indeed a very lucky dog (LOL). I hope you too will experience a similar moment as I did just three weeks ago. But actually it's me who has to be jealous, because it is you who will see the performances on TV before me (LOL).
Warm hugs

Re: Nights at the Alhambra
Sat, October 14, 2006 - 2:42 AMHey Sage,
Thanks for sharing this. We're contacting some acquaintances overseas in order to ask them the possibility to register the broadcasting on tape or DVD. Just in case there wouldn't a DVD afterwards.
In the meantime, have a nice day, enjoy your weekend.
Warm regards
Joris
